Five years ago today, Jesse and I started kissing on the lips.
How do the years go by so fast?? It's so hard to believe that the first 5 years of our marriage is over and done with. We have learned so much, grown so much, and fallen into a much deeper kind of love. But enough of the sappy stuff.
Anyone who knows us well knows that our honeymoon was . . .well . . . not so hot. So on the plane ride home (or perhaps during dinner on the 2nd day of our honeymoon) we told ourselves we would take a 2nd honeymoon, probably on our 5th anniversary. This honeymoon would be far better and more enjoyable.
Big surprise . . . we are NOT taking a 2nd honeymoon today. Instead, we are finishing up a week of a basketball/English camp we've been helping out with, then attending a party for the parents of the kids that attended. Maybe next year we can drop both kids off at a Grandparent's house and finally take our real honeymoon. Maybe . . .
I wish I had pictures from our other anniversaries, but they are on a hardrive or non existent, and I don't want to dig them up. These pictures are all stolen from my previous Xanga site. I think I've used the above wedding picture as a post on our anniversary every year.
For our 1st anniversary, we went to a Bed and Breakfast in northern Iowa then headed up to the Kuphal's to celebrate the 4th of July. I was very sentimental and made sure we watched our wedding video, the slide show we played at the reception, and the video of the reception. Giving each other presents was a big deal, and I gave a very serious type gift to Jesse (and I can't remember what it was . . .)
2nd Anniversary
We booked a great hotel in downtown Minneapolis on Priceline for a really low price. Ironically, for dinner we went to a Spanish Tapas bar. Then, again, we headed to the Kuphal cabin for just a little bit to see Tom and Jenny, who had by then moved to MN. Most of our time was spent at Valley Fair, a fun amusement park. I have to say, this was probably my favorite anniversary so far. We both love amusement parks. Fast rides, good greasy food, what's not to love?
3rd Anniversary
We rented a hotel in Ames where I could enjoy a nice warm pool since I was a month and a half away from giving birth and feeling weightless was just what I needed. We ate dinner out at a nice restaurant and enjoyed our last anniversary without a baby.
Last year, on our 4th anniversary, we had dinner here at home after Renae was to bed. I don't think we had presents, cards, letters, nothing to give each other. Infact, I don't think I even took pictures. It's funny to look at how our anniversaries have changed each year . . . We might be able to celebrate next weekend but this weekend is pretty busy so I guess we'll just kiss extra long tomorrow. After all, we are celebrating 5 years of kissing too. :)

Is this going to be a kissing blog? :)
Congratulations on your 5th anniversary!
Happy Anniversary!! I can't believe you talk about kissing on your blog... Scandalous.
Happy Anniversary, Jesse and Julie! I hope you do get to celebrate your anniversary in a special way, even if next weekend as you suggested. Oh yes, we would be happy to babysit any time you want to go off by yourselves...and I know of other grandparents who would also be delighted. We're available next weekend :o) Oh, and there are probably several sets of aunts and uncles who would watch Renae and her brother.
And...may you truly know our Father's blessings this new year of your life together.
And five years ago was when Jason and I had our first "real" conversation (at your wedding) . . . that led to our dating . . . that led to our marriage. So glad you got married and invited Jason and I! Congrats on five years!
awww..congrats! I remember that first kiss...WOW!
Happy Anniversary!
Happy Anniversary late! Glad you found our blog and it made me find yours...such a beautiful little girl you have been blessed with!
